“Okay, so like-” He sighed, honestly wondering how exactly to put this. After all, he didn’t want her to get upset with him. “Like, it’s kind of awkward, but uhh..” His face reddened. Here goes nothing! “I… kinda, soooorta, have a thing for your sister.”

He let out a nervous laugh. “It’s pretty awkward, cause ya know.. we’re dating and I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about it.” With that said, he rubbed the back of his head.

Rebecca patiently listened before blinking in surprise. She hadn’t expected that at all.

She gently grasped his hands, hoping she worded this right in her head.

“I would be fine if you dated us both, Axl. You’ve got two hands, you can hold both our hands.”

It probably sounded kind of dumb, but that was the best she had right now.

twinnedfates:

“It kind of helps, yeah. After all, i don’t see why you’d lie to me.” He had to think about this for a moment. Telling them would most definitely speed up the process. After all, he couldn’t exactly go out and look for Tomoe on his own. X and Zero would freak if he did that.

“You wanna go with me? I’m too scared to do it by myself.”

“I wouldn’t, you’re family.”

She linked her hands together, giving it a bit of thought before nodding. She got up off her butt and dusted herself off a bit out of old habits.

“Sure.”

twinnedfates:

It was clear to Aerin that Rebecca had been through a lot as well. And with her own share of troubles, comes her insecurities, her fears. He never really thought about it until now.

“I get you on that one.”

He sighed. “So do I, but try telling that to my overwhelming anxiety.” With that said, he leaned back in his chair. “I really should talk to them though, but they already have so much to deal with. What if all I’d be doing is adding fuel to the fire?”

If Aerin ever asked, Rebecca would tell him the story one day. Until then, she’d keep between her, X, Zero, and Dakota.

“I don’t think it would make things worse, if that helps?”

It probably didn’t.

“I mean, if you tell them, they’ll be able to keep an eye out and Tomoe’ll be found faster than she’d be otherwise!”

twinnedfates:

He shook his head once more. “No. I’ve been holed up in here. Ever wonder what it’s like to not see anything but a white wall for more than two days? It’s fucking wild, and I’m losing my marbles over here.”

“I want to tell them, but I’m pretty sure they’re busy. I don’t like going to other people first. It makes me feel like I’m bothering them.” Well, that will certainly explain quite a bit. “Tomoe was the same way. Expecting her to talk to you first is like expecting a miracle to happen. Anyway, I can see why you wouldn’t wanna dwell on it. But this might be a serious issue… it’s been a while.”

“When I first got here. I went a little stir crazy after I calmed down.”

Because she spent a good two and a half days staring at a blank wall unable to figure out what to do with her sad sack of a self.

Rebecca hadn’t known that. She felt bad that she hadn’t known that. What kind of sister was she that she didn’t know that?

“You’d never be bothering Dad or Papa though. And if anyone can find Sis, it’d be them or their units. I have faith in them.”

twinnedfates:

“I-I guess, I mean, it’s bothering me pretty bad so I may as well.” That, and she actually had the courage to speak to him first. Something that she had never done before. Why the sudden change?

He decided to shrug it off for now. What mattered was that Rebecca was here now, and wanting to support him.

“It’s about Tomoe. She’s been gone for a while, and I miss her. I’m really worried, and it’s lonely without her.”

She patiently waited until Aerin finished before speaking again.

“Have you brought this up with Dad or Papa yet? They could keep a better eye out for Sis than we could.”

“I’m worried about her too though. I’ve been trying to keep busy so I wouldn’t have time to dwell on things.”

twinnedfates:

Slowly, he turned his gaze to Rebecca and shook his head in response. “If by okay, you mean completely dead inside and wishing I didn’t have feelings, then yeah.”

“Er-” Cue a sigh as he rubbed the back of his head. “Sorry. That came out meaner than intended. I’m not doing so good.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“And it’s okay, it didn’t sound mean to me.”

She sat next to her brother, wanting to be there for him instead of what they had been doing before. What she had been doing before was stupid.

brokenvariable:

“Excuses, excuses… Blame the child for the error of the parent. There was a reason she never felt comfortable enough to try to voice her thoughts to any of you…”

Kai’s head canted slightly to the side at the sound of soft – in a relative sense – thuds impacting the ground. They were rhythmic in sets of threes, thu-thu-thump before a slight sense of silence. Ah.

“You probably should have tried to make your escape.”

The room was barren, nothing more than an empty chamber used for… well. Executions; trying to claim it was for training implied he was given more of a challenge than anyone had offered him. The parts of several dead reploids laid scattered about, as well as dark oil stains from where they had bled out as he had torn them apart; perhaps if she had enough uninterrupted time she could have done something with them?

The only exist was through the doorway behind him, one that Kai mockingly gestured towards while grinning manically at her. “Go ahead. Try. We’ll see how far you get.”

It wasn’t even just that he was blocking her way now; it was what she would find on the other side of the door.

“And how were we supposed to know said reason? We’re not psychic, we can’t just assume. And the hell makes you think I have any reason to believe you anyway? Mavericks tend to lie more than they actually tell the truth. They have no reason to.”

Rebecca hadn’t taken what Kai said to heart, Tomoe could say it herself if she truly felt this way.

She wondered if she could activate her boots in the time it took her to run, but threw away the idea until she was far enough away from Kai. Ceiling crawling could wait until she could get away a bit.

Sapphire eyes flickered to the door he gestured at before making her decision.

She bolted for it as fast as her dash jets would take her. Her Dads would be very unhappy if she died here, and she didn’t want to leave her siblings.

She didn’t know what she was going to find on the other side of the door, but anything was better than this.

Rebecca probably should know better by now than to think something like that and tempt fate but…

A heavy sigh slowly rattled its way out from Zero’s chest in response to Rebecca’s soft murmurs. Right, she would… and so would the twins and so would X.

X. Just his name was enough to cause the voice in the back of his thoughts to begin to stir, hissing lowly before rattling against its mental cage. X. He was going to come back and-

Rebecca was practically dropped onto one of the repair beds as Zero looked down at her, green eyes wide for a moment as he forgot how to properly breathe“… Don’t let her leave. Not until I get back.” The order was given to one of the medics, despite the fact that his gaze was fixed firmly on Rebecca as he spoke.

It took far too much effort for him to tear himself away, pushing a worried nurse aside as he limped out of the room. He could repair his wounds himself, and even if he couldn’t… putting space between himself and Rebecca was more important.

She squeaked when she was practically dropped, looking up at Zero. She was about to speak up to protest that when her leg sparked and she quickly thought better of it, shutting her mouth before she said something stupid.

She wouldn’t do anything stupid either, she promised, and maybe they’d teach her first aid while she was in here? She had been meaning to ask about that for a while now.

Rebecca watched as her dad left the medical bay, and laid down to let the medics work their magic- and she was out like a light for this it seemed.
