The compliment brought a smile to the young trainer’s face, happy to hear someone praise his battling skills. Hearing her assumption, Ash tilts his head. Younger? Funny, it was usually the opposite.
“Younger…? Aha, no one’s ever told me that before!”
“Hm, maybe I’ve been spending too much time around Iris then…”
“She certainly always makes everyone at the League feel younger with her shenanigans.”
The champion got dragged into a prank or two the younger Dragon master came up with while she was up at the League.
The boy nods, following her inside. At her direction, he plopped down at the kitchen table, glancing around the house. Despite being able to only see one room, the house seemed quite large! He focused his attention back on her as she approached.
“Oh, y’ saw that? Yeah, it was a great battle–!”
It would’ve been better if he’d won. It was a total curb-stomp battle, one that he didn’t feel very great about. Nobody would, after all. Pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind, Ash accepted the ice pack, removing his hat to place it on his head.
“I’m Ash Ketchum! Nice to meet’cha!”
“Oh I certainly agree, I was very impressed with your performance. ”
She had been so impressed at the time that she went through most of his battles from the conference to see his strategies. The ideas some trainers came up with absolutely fascinated her sometimes.
“A pleasure to finally meet you, Mister Ketchum. I have to admit though, and I hope you don’t take offense to this, I was expecting you to look a little younger. I honestly have no idea why.”
Oh, that’s good! I’m glad to hear it! I’m enjoying it a lot!
-He said, idly jingling it on the collars ring. It still reminded him of Maria, and made him cry some nights, but it was always a wonderful thing to have around.-
It’s always music to my ears, especially when I move around a lot!
“I’ll get you a bottle for the hell of it next time I’m shoppin’ then.”
Rebecca softly laughed, nuzzling her friend back and managing to sit up while hugging him.
“Yup! We could go swimming this summer sometime, I got a really comfy swimsuit that I wanna try.”
The champion smiled brigher at the sound of the jingle, ruffling Heat’s quills affectionately.
“I’m glad you love it, Heat. It makes me happy that ya love it.”
-Heat didn’t notice at first, he was reading a book when he heard his name, looking up only to see someones figure dashing at him like a ryno. Then he found he has Rebecca hugging him in a powerful tackle. He couldn’t help smiling like an idiot when he heard her voice. It was so familiar, he didn’t hesitate to hug her back.-
Rebecca! I missed you as well! Your body’s just as soft as I remember, How have you been?
-He purred out, nuzzling his face into her hair. As usual, he was a mood ruiner.-
I am a walking furnace, because I like to get people hot and bothered.
“Well I do use a nice body wash so I sure hope my skin’s soft.”
Rebecca hugged her best friend warmly, a grin on her face as she readjusted her headphones to hear him talk.
“I’ve been pretty buy lately, I finally punted that idiot out of the League so I had to take over his post full time. Since it’s May though, there’s not a lot of challengers. So I’ve got time to visit.”
“Yes you do, you’ve even got my face red. A new record, I think. How have you been, Heat? Enjoying your Soothe Bell, I hope.”
“Oh, O-okay…” was all he said before letting out an exhausted breath, now wisely staying quiet to allow her to not cut his feathers up even though they’re already a flipping mess.
Rebecca quietly worked, gently brushing down the other’s feathers where she could. She was certainly taking more care than her earlier tone indicated.
The threat of becoming an ice sculpture was enough to scare the birb into not flailing like an imbecile, which was a good thing as he was tiring himself out very quickly, doing said flailing like an imbecile.
“I-I-Im really s-s-super sorry about, uh, cr-crashing into your thingy. R-really! I swear I didn’t mean it, I sw-swear!”
Pyrr, please.
“I believe you but just please be quiet while I cut you down. My eyes are still bleary from napping. I don’t want to accidentally cut a feather and I don’t want you to accidentally damage my orchard.”
She started carefully snipping the wire mesh around the stuck feathers, being careful not to go near the feathers themselves.
Oh crap. The once sleeping stranger was now awake and the scared birb avian could just imagine the many ways she would react to finding a flying human trapped and hanging upside down in the mesh that protected her orchard, which caused the idiot to just panic more as he tried and failed to get his wings free.
“Uhhh…h-hi? Pleasedon’tbemadpLEASE.”
“Flail any more, and I’ll make you into an ice sculpture. Now stop that and let me cut you down.”
Rebecca rubbed at her eyes before going to get a step ladder from a closet inside, bringing it outside and climbing onto it once it was put next to the birb.
She had a pair of wire cutters in her hand and got ready to start cutting the mesh that he was stuck in.
