-Heat groaned, flicking his ears to her words. That was true. He knew it was going to be okay. And that the liquid falling from his eyes would stop eventually. He has experienced this before. It will go away, maybe not today or tomorrow, but some time it will go away.

Idly following behind her with the towel in his other hand, trying to rub the droplets away. A deep breath, and his ears perking to her voice, as a smile slid onto his lips. Taking the bottle in both his hands, towel hanging from one side of his grasp on it.

His friends were so nice.

He couldn’t help but think, as he sniffed the open lid, the scent was tangy, and somewhat strong. He didn’t really recognize the scent, but it wasn’t bad. It was just a tad stronger than the things he was used to, almost annoying but not quite.

Giving a small nod to acknowledge the chosen soaps scent. His response not being a lie, after all he did like the scent. It was just a bit strong for his tastes straight from the bottle.-

It smells pleasant.

Rebecca gave him a warm smile, gently taking the bottle back and nodding.

“I’m glad you like it, Heat. I got this a few days ago cause I thought it smelled nice.”

She carefully squirted the body wash into the water, mixing it around until it was all nice and full of suds. Once that was done, the champion promptly stripped and put her clothes off to the side, getting in the tub while motioning to Heat to hop on in.

“It’s nice and warm.”

Broken didn’t really need to cover his ears and just waited until the blender stopped before he spoke again.

“I guess they must be only in this zone because we don’t have them back home.”

“Technically no, one of my best friends is growing some in his zone. He took extra special care of ‘em and they grew up big and strong.”

She poured the blended berries into a glass, offering it to the other.

“Here ya go, one Pecha-Oran smoothie. If you’d like, I can give you a basket of each of the berries I grow here so you can grow your own.”

-A sniffle or two happened, as he hid his face in the towel. Nodding-

Okay.

That’d be nice. Uh… What do oranges smell like?

Is it like lavender?

-He asks, another sniffle as he tried to stop his tears from falling. He remembered many different scented soaps and shampoos he often used to help him wash Angel. They tended not to be relative to too many fruit scents.-

“No more crying, hun. It’s gonna be okay.”

Rebecca stood up after softly kissing Heat’s forehead and gently took his hand to guide him to the bathroom. She was thankful that the tub could fill up fast at least.

She popped the body wash cap open and started the water, offering the bottle to Heat.

“Here, come take a sniff before I put it in. It smells nice, I promise.”

-oh that was a pretty good excuse! But Heat wasn’t going to lie to her. Simply hiccuping and staying still. It was better to leave it be. He didn’t really say anything since his voice felt like it was going to crack. He waited a moment or two to be sure it wouldn’t fade out in mid word.-

Maybe.

“Well don’t mess with the powder, it’s not for eating on it’s own. It’s used as a seasoning.”

“Let’s get your eyes cleaned up, okay? Then you can take a nice long soak in the tub. I don’t mind hopping back in with you, if you’d like. I’ve got this really nice smelling soap that you’d like, it smells like oranges.”

She gently patted his muzzle some more with the towel, offering her free hand with a warm smile.

NOTHING.

NOThing.

Nope

-no of course heat’s not crying what are you talking about-

Rebecca knelt down, gently using the soft towel she had been using for her hair to wipe away the tears.

“Heat, did you get something in your eyes? They’re all red and teary. You weren’t messing with the Magost powder, were you?”

-Heat just smiled widely, scrunching his shoulders up as he laughed.

The plants were grown in a greenhouse inside the labs, often fertilizer was experimented with and the result was plants that could move freely with feeling. They practically tended to themselves most of the time if they weren’t playing jokes on the people who came in.-

They must be! You’re so good at that! The ones at home aren’t that nice! And it is hard for them to keep still like yours do!

-Although Heat himself thought this was a normal thing, unaware that Rebecca had no clue what he was talking about. He was actually very surprised that Rebecca kept her plants so tame compared to the mess at his own home.-

I will keep you nice and warm!

-He said, reaching his arms out playfully.-

“It’s gotta be the fertilizer and mulch I use. I can give you some next time to see if that works. I’ve had years of experience to figure out what works and what doesn’t so hopefully it’ll help.”

“Yes you will, ya warm dork.”

The champion pulled Heat back into her hug, wrapping her arms around him fully this time. She wasn’t joking with the nickname, he really was like a walking space heater and it felt wonderful. In fact, if she didn’t remember that she was on the ground rather than a bed, she would have conked off right there.

“How about we go take a nice warm nap in my new futon? It’s huge and the blanket’s all cuddly.”

Cue the giggles and smiles as the hedgehog was tickled by Rebecca.

‘Oh no, not the dreaded tickle monster! Please not meeee!’

Absolute dorks, jesus.

Rebecca planted smooch after smooch on Kin’s head as she tickled him before she wrapped warm arms around him and nuzzled into the small hedgehog’s quills.

“You’re adorable, Kin.”

-Heat had already gone outside, and taken another basket in after a moment or two. His ears perked to catch her voice as he walked in a second time.-

All right!

-He said, after a small nod. Coming slowly to the table, and carefully putting it up onto the table. Keeping an eye out for any berries wanting to fall, before going out for the other basket. Remembering his orders after this task was complete.-

By the time all the baskets were inside, she was three quarters of the way through the first basket, having brought it over to the sink to make it easier instead of walking back and forth.

“I’m very proud of ya, Heat. You did a great job. Not a single broken berry this harvest, from what I can tell.”

She looked incredibly proud as well, a bright smile on her face. There were leaves and twigs in the skin from washing the berries but she’d clean those up later.

“There’s little pictures on each box in the fridge, it indicates which berry goes where.”
