The Vaporeon’s face didn’t fill him with any confidence. Over thinking it he suddenly felt very unwelcomed. Opening his old clunker up he climbed in, to see if the ship would start. But before he did he leaned back out to talk to the Pokemon.

“You m-might want to get back.”

After that he started the ship. Strange, everything seemed to be running smoothly while idle. So what caused the crash? Starting a full diagnostic. Sprocket got back out to organize the things that were scattered about and pick up the remains of that crate he smashed.

Triton padded back a bit, plopping right back down on his rear end.

“Vaporrr…”

The Vaporeon padded over to Sprocket, gently tugging on his tail with his own. He wanted the other to follow him.

Hm. -Shadow hummed, following and stopping. Before glancing off to the side as she spoke.-imageMmm.

Yes, that’s fine.

-Shadow responded giving a light shrug, as he held the items in his arms, and patiently waited for her to walk out of the room.

Although he was a bit off on letting her guard the door, given she could possibly hear the shower running from inside, Plus what would she be guarding him from exactly?

He was pretty sure even taking a shower he would be able to defend himself.-

Rebecca went out of the bathroom, her back against the door. What she was guarding against was paparazzi and their cameras. She couldn’t risk the media knowing that Mobians and the multiverse existed, after all.

The government would want to exploit-

The back door slid open quietly and Rebecca stiffened, ready to pounce.

There was a crashing noise that could be heard from inside the bathroom, the former champion having gotten the trespassing cameraman into an arm hold on the ground to wrestle his camera away from him.

“Drop it, y’bastard!”

He absolutely loved this, smiling as he watched the fireworks give colour to the sky one by one.

When he felt her hand squeeze his, he looked up to her face to check if she was talking to him and…and…

…Rebecca really was pretty, wasn’t she? And the makeup, no matter how little just accentuated that fact. He couldn’t help but blush a little as he moved slightly closer to her, squeezing her hand as gently as he could as he moved.

“Wow!”

Rebecca gasped in amazement at the finale, hundreds of fireworks being shot into the sky. She blinked and turned to Kin, giving him a bright, warm smile as the fireworks finale lit her face in a soft glow.

Sprocket could only stare as she left. Even though he just met the Lombax’s worry could only grow in strength. Turning to look down at the blue Pokemon he didn’t expect an answer but he just wanted to ask someone.

“Is she g-going to be ok-kay?”

The expression that Triton gave him was a very clear ‘I don’t know’. His trainer had never reacted like this before. What was wrong? Had it been that ‘Nanotech’ stuff that bothered the former champion?

Triton padded out from under the tree to sit next to the Lombax, waiting for Rebecca to come back outside when she was finished taking out her frustrations.

Mewtwo listened to her descriptions carefully, although they provided little useful pieces of information, just as she had tried to tell him before. Bubbles, orange, a desk… he had seen a place similiar to this with his own eyes. These images still haunted him in his dreams from time to time and as much as he hated to think of them and everything they stood for, he could never quite forget about them. And yet, it was simply impossible for this lab to be the same as the one he had been created in. This one, his place of “birth”, was no more, long gone, remaining nothing but a piece of unknown history. But then, who else could be behind all of this? Who else could have an interest in repeating this experiment?

With such pressuring questions on his mind, his attention for the human and its injury fell short as he halfheartedly listened to her explanation. Sure, he had asked her for it, but it had been in hopes to gain more clues that would help him with finding these scientists. He generally didn’t understand the concept of chitchat, nor did he feel a need to ever participate in it. Sadly though all of this effort had proven to be nothing more but another dead end. So in the end, there was only one option left, one he actually deeply hated.

“While I cannot help you with your hand, human”, he finally answered her through telepathy, “I have decided to stay with you until that other .. ‘Mewtwo’ … reveals itself once more.” That was more than she deserved but for the time being it was his best bet to actually see if what she was speaking was the truth. His eyes narrowed menacingly though as he added harshly “Do not dare think however that I will fight for you or be one of your Pokémon.”

“S’alright, don’t worry about my hand. Cheri juice burns generally have to heal on their own, provided I put burn salve on it in the morning.”

Rebecca carefully rewrapped her hand and looked surprised at that last part.

“I actually wasn’t going to ask that. What I was going to ask is if you prefer a normal bed or a futon. I’m a retired trainer actually. I only battle when I’m called in. And the balls I carry are backups for my team, just in case theirs are broken.”

She then looked thoughtful, wincing just slightly as she put her bandaged hand over her mouth to think.

“I can do research as to possible locations the little one could have teleported back to. Wherever they are, the electricity and water usage has got to be through the roof.”

“If you’d like, I can find the records and you can check them for anything unusual or familiar.”

The array of lights which would have normally been a bother to the hedgehog were instead making him smile in awe as he watched the various fireworks.

Rebecca smiled up at the fireworks, having taken out her hearing aids to simply enjoy the light and color. She gently squeezed Kin’s hand as she watched, her hair being blown a bit by the late summer winds.

Tens of fireworks lit up the summer night sky, bathing the area in various colors.

The Lombax suddenly felt like he just did something very wrong.

“It’s umm, n-not m-magic. At l-least I think? I’m not-t sure what that w-word means. T-that g-glowing s-stuff was made out-t of little rob-bots.”

Rebecca put her headphones back on, going over to lean against the door.

“Your bruises, scrapes and wounds disappeared in a flash. There is nothing like that in the medicines here. It looked more like magic fireflies healed you.”

The former champion excused herself and closed the door behind her, leaving a worried-looking Triton sitting under a tree.

iamnotratchet:

That was far from the reaction he was expecting. What kind of planet did he crash on?

image

“Umm, d-do you not have Nanotech on this p-planet?”

“Nano… tech? No, we don’t have that kind of magic here.”

Rebecca’s hands were shaking as she pulled off her headphones, revealing the scarring inside and on her ears. Revealing that no, there was no Nanotech on this world at all.

Ice Beam? Must be something Humans can do he thought. Even if it did break anything he could most likely fix it. Sprocket was just glad that crate wasn’t broken by it or the crash. Walking back over to it this time he didn’t sit down.

image

“So in a few seconds then?”

After that he used to wrench to break that see through crate. The glowing orbs inside flying to the Lombax, seemingly being adsorbed by him. All the scraps, bruises, even the apparent limp in his leg healed up and vanished.

“T-that’s a lot better.”

Rebecca’s jaw had dropped.

“Wha- How in the…? A Potion? No… even those are temporary fixes… was… was that m… magic?”

She almost seemed reluctant to say the word itself. How peculiar.
