“I know it’s the best you can do, but it still wouldn’t be the same. A conscious mind cannot be replaced.”

“Then there’s honestly nothin’ I can say that’d really help, Silv.”

Rebecca gently pulled Silver into a side hug, giving his forehead an affectionate kiss.

“Can we enjoy and cherish the time we’ve got together? We can worry about what’ll happen when I’m an old lady when I’m actually an old lady. Then I can yell at youngins t’get off my lawn and the like.”

‘I don’t want to knock your head.’

Lowering their arms, Mewtwo just hovered there  Slowly rotating in the air.

‘I can’t touch anything now. It’ll all hurt.’

“If I remember correctly, the way I helped with that was to wrap you in a warm blanket. D’ya think you’d be alright with that again?”

Rebecca got up after scooting away from the little Pokemon to make sure she wouldn’t bump into them by accident.

Grabbing the spot and letting out a little whine. Mewtwo started to float in the air, that light blue glow surrounding them.

‘That hurt. It feels like before now.’

“I’m sorry, sweetie… Here, knock on my head to make us even, okay?”

She lowered her head and closed her eyes, ready to take whatever the little Pokemon hit her with.

While they’ve been enjoying the Human’s pets since getting here. This time however the contact sent a jolt right through them. Making the Pokemon jerk back in reflex. Just like back before their overload.

Rebecca immediately pulled her hand away.

“Whoa, sorry about that, sweetie.”

Power switch? Wasn’t that the thing she pushed on walls sometimes? Closing their eyes helped them try to picture it. The Pokemon’s breathing finally slowed down back to normal. A few moments later that blue glow around the berry filled basket vanished and it was free of Mewtwo’s mental grip.

There was a small thunk as the basket hit the ground, thankfully none of the berries splattered from the small impact. Rebecca’s burned hand was still trembling as she moved the basket to the side, gently petting the little Pokemon’s head with a smile.

“Good job, sweetie. You did it perfectly.”

“Huh?”

“You’re… You’re like a grown-up version of a Pokemon I take care of… Oh! Uhm, sorry… that was rude. I’m Rebecca. It’s nice to meet you.”

Well this was a lovely first impression, wasn’t it? At least she put her bag on the ground where the other could see it.

“No you won’t. Where are you going to be if I need you in a hundred years? The normal life span doesn’t make it to the one hundred twenties! How can anyone say they’ll be there for me anytime I need them anymore? What happens if I need someone, and that someone is gone forever? Then what?”

Rebecca softly sighed, clasping her hands together.

“Zekrom will be there for you instead. I have no doubts that he can be by your side. He’s one of this region’s legendary Pokemon, Silv. Legendary Pokemon are ageless.”

“I don’t feel like ever having anything again. The thought makes me feel sick to my stomach.”

“I’ll put it in the fridge then.”

Rebecca did so, sitting down next to her best friend.

“Silv, y’can’t let whatever’s got ya down destroy you like this. It doesn’t mean y’gotta like it. It doesn’t even mean y’gotta be neutral to it. Just… Y’gotta enjoy and cherish the time y’have with those y’love. If it helps, I’ll be here for ya any time y’need me. Okay?”
