“Uh… Cupcake. I think that’s a cute nickname. The two different colors kinda remind me of cupcakes, and cupcakes are really good. I’m glad you’ll look after them. You would be better suited for it than I would. I don’t know much about this world other than what you’ve told me.”

“Silv, that’s an absolutely adorable nickname. And cupcakes can be made with blue frosting with a chocolate bottom.”

“Before you drop it off, I suggest allowing it to remember your scent for when you next visit. That way, it’ll know to run up to you.

I’d be more than happy to tell you all about this world any time you’d like me to.”

“I think it might be easier if you keep him. Or her. Whichever of those. But maybe I can come and visit sometimes, like at night when I’m not off searching. I never search at night. It’s too uh… dangerous. That’s why.”

“That might be a good idea, actually. More often than not, night time is when things get more vicious, no matter the world. I honestly don’t blame ya, even I don’t go outside at night here.

And I’d be more than happy to look after the little one. D’ya wanna give it a nickname so you know it’s yours? I can have it checked out at the Pokemon Center to make sure it’s healthy later.”

“Oh. That’s a lot to figure out. I don’t know if I can handle raising a… that thing. I don’t know if I’d have enough time to give it the right attention.”

“Unless you give it a nickname, please call it a Riolu.”

“I can handle the specialized food. Simply treat it how you would a person and it’ll give you the same respect in return. You may not be able to understand it at first but given time, you’ll be able to understand it perfectly.”

“That’d be a Pokemon, Silv. Like Triton but another species.”

image

“Oh. Well I guess that explains it.”

“Mhm. Unlike Triton, who’s a pure Water type Pokemon, Riolu are Fighting type.”

“The ball you were given is called a Pokeball. It gives you a choice of whether you want to make the Riolu portable or not and it keeps other people from stealing it outright.”

Oh. That doesn’t pleasant to Kin, pulling a slightly pained face at the image. He was glad to have been deaf since creation now.

Headphones to hear? He hadn’t known of that before, interesting…

‘Yes, wind is nice on ears. Or everywhere.’ Did you just smile a little Kin.

Rebecca chuckled a bit at the other’s pained face.

‘Energy beam fired point blank next to head. Not pleasant. Ten years since then.’

The former champion squatted down and tucked her hair behind her ear to show the other the scarring going inside her ear.

‘Yeah. Wind is best on scars. Nice and cool.’

!!!

Insert the ebony hedgehog jumping in surprise with most likely a squeak but he doesn’t know that from the touch, before swiftly turning around to see who it was.

A human female…huh. She looked harmless to him, but how harmless? He wasn’t sure, he seemed to be content with just looking the blonde in the face.

image

Her ears…what happened to them? Was she…? One way to find out was to point at his own long ears, then mouth two words to her.

‘What happened.’

Rebecca held her fists to her ears before making an exploding gesture with them and her mouth, indicating permanent injury from sound.

She mouthed in reply, tapping her headphones with a finger.

‘I use special tech to hear. Not using it right now. Wind is nice on ears.’

Huh. People. Would you look at that. Quite a sight. He doesn’t have a clue they’re there though, being completely void of hearing and not actually facing them. Try not to surprise him too much.

The former champion had her headphones off to feel the wind on her scarred ears when she caught sight of the other and she walked up to him, gently tapping his shoulder to catch his attention.

Rebecca was doing some exercise of her own, surrounded by blocks of ice to keep the room cold while she punched at her punching bag, her hands wrapped underneath a pair of kick-boxing gloves.

She huffed and moved with the bag as Goop moved it with Psychic to keep her on her toes, ready for a moving opponent. It was a sweltering day outside so it was perfect for her strengthening session today. Once she was done with this, she’d use the hacksaw to pulverize the ice blocks and head upstairs.
