She skidded to a halt, tail swishing behind her in excitement as she barked in greeting towards the girl. When the basket was placed on the ground, she paused to sniff at it. It smelled good, like the sweets she often left at the shrine. Her tail wagged a little more at that, it was less hunting she had to do today.
At the question, she gave an excited wiggle, and trotted over to the shrine, standing next to the box, as if offering the girl to take a peek inside.
When the fox wiggled excitedly, Rebecca stood up, picking up the basket and going over to the donations box. She looked inside, an amazed expression forming on her face.
“Oh wow! There’s so much! People must be donating more often now!”
She was absolutely delighted, the bells on her braids chiming as happily as she was. There was so many donations, were people finally figuring out that the shrine was actually legitimate? She looked down at the fox with a bright smile.
“So people are finally figuring out what I did years ago, huh? Oop, speaking of which.”
She put the basket down again, going in her pocket for her donation that she kept separate from her wallet, and dropped two 1000 yen bills into the box with a nod.
“There we go. Was what happened last week what got people to figure out that the shrine’s the best?”
Maybe that was a bit extreme, but it did feel that way. He wasn’t sure if he would trust any of his teammates with something like this, not with the way most of them flaked on practice. Narukami, maybe, he’s heard he’s a fairly good cook, but the guy always seems to have so much on his plate that he didn’t want to add anymore to that.
“Sure. Thats no problem. It doesn’t need to be anything that special, really. The school won’t help us out with anymore funds so, anything we want to do for the team this year we have to fund ourselves.” And it wasn’t as if he could ask his family to lend a hand.
“Hey, it’s no biggie! I love teaching my favorite subject.”
She softly chirped, the bells on her braids chiming when she bounced just a little on her heels. She didn’t rule the Cooking Club with an iron fist with nothing to show for it after all.
“Nothing special, hm? Standard swirl then.“
Even standard styles can be made extra appealing to potential customers, however. Already she was calculating how much icing she would need.
“Alright. I can teach you after club today, or after school tomorrow with more time. I don’t have club tomorrow, after all, and you’d have to meet me at the bakery. We’ll be using the kitchen there instead of here, there’s more elbow room and better quality equipment. Lemme just-”
She hefted up the box of club supplies again without much effort, even if it looked rather heavy, before sliding open the door she was near and putting it on the nearest counter.
“There we go. Now, when’s the fundraiser and how many people d’you expect to stop by? I need to figure out how much of each ingredient we’ll need, after all.”
He wasn’t really sure what to say to that statement, so he was quiet for a few moments, finishing up the last of the dango she had given him before giving a nod. Obviously she wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“Alright, Animal Crossing it is then.”
“Great~!”
Her chirp was soft behind the dango stick she was chewing on as she motioned for him to follow her back to her place. She walked quite casually, easily ignoring a whisper from a housewife as she went right past her, into the alleyway next to the bakery.
There was a door right at the end of it, and she went into it, spitting the now chewed up stick into the small trash can inside by the door with surprising accuracy and pulling off her boots with ease. She put on slippers and popped right up the stairs, motioning the other to follow.
“This way. My gaming stuff’s in my room.”
“Never been more thankful that I don’t have boobs.”
Sighing he’d take another dango into his mouth, looking back over at her again as she placed a hand on his shoulder, giving a small smile for a moment, eating this one a lot faster than the first.
“…I dont know if I’m gonna be very good company.”
“You’re my friend, ‘Suke. I don’t care if you’re good company or not.”
Her response was just as blunt as she always was, and she huffed, crossing her arms over her flat chest.
“We’ll play Animal Crossing. We’ll plant flowers all over my town for shits, maybe fuck around on the Island and have a lil fun selling lots of stuff. You clearly need a relaxation day and Animal Crossing is great for that.”
Yosuke was still chewing on his first dango, spending a lot more time on it than he usually would. Only now swallowing and simply looking at the others still stuck to the stick for a moment or two.
“I dont think so. Its just a shit day in general.”
“Ah, I gotcha. I get days like that sometimes.”
She finished off her dango, holding the stick in her mouth before gently patting his shoulder. Hopefully the reassuring vibe she wanted to get across was clear.
“Wanna come to my place and play some video games or something?”
