Shifting his weight and wiggling a foot to shake the snow off, he continued to stare up at her for an awkward moment before taking a quick look around. Oh right, he was lost, wasn’t he? He was curious about where he had landed, or rather, where the emerald had landed him, but he didn’t want to just ditch his new friend! Would it be too much to ask for help?

“Will you teach me things? Like where I am?”

“Of course I will. You’re right outside Icirrus City, hun.”

Rebecca pointed towards Icirrus City with a smile before offering a hand to him.

“Would you like me to walk you over there?”

alonebutnotapart:

He would. Be there for a while that is.

Fleetway flailed his arms lightly in his giant – for his size anyway – sweater with a silly smile on his face.

“Aaa! Rebecca likes to do that too! I… I like to meet people and learn things! And snuggle!"

Rebecca chuckled at the flail. That was kinda adorable.

"She does too? What a coincidence. That’s a great thing to like, hun. And snuggles are great too.”

With a waggling tail, Fleetway nodded enthusiastically. She looked a little confused, but seemed to get the concept well enough. “I think you are very tall for a Rebecca, Rebecca." He commented idly, gesturing to his own height for reference. "What do you like to do?” was asked with a smile.

“Uh, thank you, I guess.”

“I like to garden and take care of my friends. Not much to do when you’re retired from battle. What do you like doing?”

She might as well ask while he was here. It seemed he’d be here a while.

alonebutnotapart:

That’s it! The shorter Rebecca he knew must be an elf! Realization dawned on his face as the oh-so-wrong conclusion hit him.

“Yes! But not a clone, just another you, in another world! She’s lots shorter than you, and has pointy ears! I like her a lot.”

“Another-”

“The universe is a big place, I guess. Though if she’s shorter than me, there might be something wrong. My height is rather short for this region.”

What a strange universe it was if there was a version of her with elf ears and really short.

alonebutnotapart:

No point to her ears? Well that was strange. About as strange as her height. Fleet took his hand back and stared up at this ‘Rebecca’ character, taking a step back. It wasn’t really that he didn’t believe this was an alternate, it was just that she was so much different.

His own ears flicked just a bit at the whisper, and he leaned in and responded with a low tone of his own.

“Why don’t you have pointy ears?”

With Fleetway leaned in so close, she was able to figure out what he said and looked absolutely confused as she pulled her headphones back on.

“Pointy-? Well, for one thing, I’m not an elf.”

“Why do you ask, hun? Do I have an elf-eared clone out there somewhere?”

alonebutnotapart:

Okay no.

The hedgehog was glad that he wasn’t being asked any other difficult questions, or being stared at strangely, but it was overshadowed by his curiosity and a bit of shock. Eyes wide, head sideways and an ear down, little Fleet here couldn’t believe… that Rebecca could have been taller in another life.

But where was the scar? Was her hand not a fleshy hand? Did she have pointy ears? Let’s check the ear thing. Reach up in her personal space to try moving the… things there. Where the ears should be. Yes those. Remove them.

“What are you-”

Everything went quiet as her headphones were dropped to her neck. Her ears were normal human ears but if one looked closely, there was a bit of scarring on the inside.

Rebecca attempted to ask if she could help him with something but it came out as a quiet whisper.

alonebutnotapart:

Well his voice was perfectly fine, it just sounded like gravel was rolling around in his throat.

His nose wiggled at her in the cold air, tilting his head to the other side in thought at the question. The question he never really knew the answer to.

“Yes… and no. I am not Sonic. This is Sonic,” he paused to look down at himself and pat the peach patch, “but I am not.” Why was he divulging such sensitive information? Probably because of the familiar appearance of the one he was talking to. “Who are you?”

“I’m Rebecca Kizuna…”

What did he mean by that? Did he have a personality disorder? Or was he possessed? The champion put those thoughts out of her mind before looking at him curiously.

“What’s your name then?”

alonebutnotapart:

Mumble grumble huffle huff. What a huffy hedgehog. His puffed cheeks stayed inflated for a few more steps before he was called out to. His ears perked up and he turned to find… a familiar, yet strangely unfamiliar face a few steps away from him.

Rebecca?

He blinked his swirled eyes and tilted his head up at her, wanting to call the name he knew but not wanting to make the human uncomfortable.

“Hello?" he answered in his rough voice.

Well that gave the champion a bit of a jolt. She hadn’t expected that to be the other’s voice.

"What in the world…? Are you a Sonic?”

The other certainly didn’t sound like the Sonic she had met before. Maybe this one’s voice had cracked.

Fleetway whined and huffed as he walked, not amused at all with the warm air escaping his lips to mix with the cold air around him. He had wanted to go home, but it seems the emerald felt differently. Why though? It was really cold! And leafy.

Oh well. At least it wasn’t in the city where people were sure to freak out about his eyes. He figured if he kept on in the same direction though, he should find his way out.

The poor guy doesn’t realize he’s in a world he’s never been to.

Rebecca had just touched down in Icirrus and spotted blue wandering in the forest. She quietly approached him before realizing he must’ve been another version of that Sonic creature she met a while ago.

The trainer adjusted her headphones before calling out to him.

“Hello?”
