She debated with herself for just a split second.
“Hmm… I think three flowers would be alright as a gift. I know just which ones too. Lemme go get my clippers, ‘kay?”
Gently, Rebecca patted the little girl’s head, going back inside for just a moment and coming back out with a pair of flower cutters. She knelt down in front of the flower bed, carefully clipping a pansy, a daisy, and a dahlia, all cut in a way that the now bare stems weren’t obvious.
A small rubber band from her pocket tied them together, and she gently handed the little bundle to the little girl.
