“Yeah, I’m sure.”

He shook his head. He didn’t want to take from others. “It’s alright. I don’t need anything. But thank you for saying such nice things.”

“Y’got your own way to cool off from the heat then? Alright, sweetie.”

“I say true things, Silv. If you say you’ll be okay then I trust your judgement.”

“I wouldn’t know where you’re supposed to plant them.” He didn’t have a place of his own. Not yet, anyway. Someday, when all of this mess had finished, he would definitely have his own home, and even a way to pay for it!

“Is there a special place or can they go anywhere?”

“They’ve gotta be planted in fertile soil, like the soil these trees are in now. Normally soil would be fertile after a fire but from what you’ve told me, I think the ground itself would be too hardened by the heat itself to be broken up into soil.”

Rebecca moved on to the next tree, waiting for Silver to finish up on the last one.

“Great!”

He did as shown, moving on, and repeating the process. Was this what normal people did? Normal people must have had a lot of fun, simply enjoying the beauty that was nature, and picking the fruits of their labors. Taking care of trees must have been hard work. “Someday I’m gonna have lots of pretty trees like this.”

“I bet you’ll take great care of them, Silv. I’ll teach ya how to plant ‘em and maintain ’em. I’ll even give ya a sapling to start off if you want a berry tree.”

Rebecca was very proud of her friend as she worked, oh-so-carefully picking each fully grown berry from the tree.

“All finished up here!"

Maybe not quite, but to get things done quickly, he simply grabbed all of the berries leftover with his psychokinesis. Even with his powers, the process was done very carefully. This task was, by far, the most important one on his list next to saving the world.

"I was super careful and I think I got them all without hurting any.”

Rebecca peeked her head through the tree to see how well he did, smiling brightly and nodding.

“Y’did perfect, Silv. I’m very proud of you.”

“You’re already amazing at berry picking.”

The champion moved her basket to the next tree, motioning Silver to do the same.

“This tree must be very happy!” A happy plant would produce lots of berries. That was Silver’s logic behind it. That only made this even better for him. It meant these trees were happy where they were. Nature was in harmony.

When Silver put a berry in the basket, he did so carefully. They were placed side by side, in a rather organized manner. He didn’t simply toss them in, as the average person may have done.

“It must’ve! It was a long rainstorm a couple days ago so I bet they were happy to get lots of water.”

“I’m almost done on this side. How’re you doing?”

Rebecca was also putting the berries in the basket in an organized fashion, as it saved her a bit of time when it came time to wash them later on.

“Of course!”

He followed her advice, making his way over to the other side. He chose, however, to pick the berries with his own hands. It was more fun than just plucking them all at once with psychokinesis. On a lazy day, that would have probably been more convenient, but for now, he wanted to savor this experience.

This was amazing. Nature was amazing.

Rebecca hummed a tune to herself as she picked the berries, carefully putting each into her basket as she worked.

There was quite a haul this week, just about fifteen Orans were on her side.

“Must’ve been a nice rainstorm a couple days ago, I almost never get this many on one tree.”
