“Yeah. Maybe just enough to wear I don’t have to hold my breath to button those shorts. I mean, I can still wear them now and I really like them, but it would be nice to be able to breathe properly.”

Silver didn’t really care about the fact he had a round body. He wanted to lose the weight to fit into those clothes. But he would do it gradually, as she said. Being healthy was always the best way to go. “Oh yes. I’ll take extra special care of any clothes I have! I won’t ever let them get dirty, or torn, or anything.”

He grinned at what he was wearing. Everything was a snug fit, it kind of accentuated his size, but that honestly didn’t matter to him. Silver rather enjoyed clothes, and felt as though he looked good while wearing them. They made him feel incredibly happy, and helped a lot with his self esteem.

“Gradually is the healthiest way. Otherwise your health would be damaged. I’ll show you healthy foods you can start with, if you’d like.”

“And that’s very good. Though the dirt can come from you as well. Body odor can build up after several days so be careful about that.”

Rebecca turned to one of the boxes, a thoughtful look on her face before she went through it. She pulled out a light blue headband, scooting over to Silver and carefully putting it on him.

“You look absolutely adorable now. Guaranteed to make people squeal.”

“It’s okay. I should probably lose some weight, anyway.” They weren’t uncomfortable, just incredibly snug. The fact someone taller than him wasn’t as wide was a little embarrassing. When he unbuttoned the shorts, he took in a deep breath.

These new shorts were much easier. The fabric was such a fascinating texture, and he didn’t have to hold his breath to get them on! “I like these too.” He grinned. Clothes were kind of fun to experiment with.

“Losing weight should be done safely and gradually, just remember that, okay?”

“And I’m glad you like them, Silv. Those were actually one of my favorite pairs when I was younger so take good care of ‘em. I’ll teach you how to wash clothes next time.

Here, watch this.”

Rebecca knelt in front of Silver, tying the drawstring to make it gently snug around his hips.

“How’s that? This is so they don’t fall down. Pretty cool, huh?”

holdingmyworldsdestiny:

He did as asked. He slipped the shorts up, although they had a little trouble once they reached the halfway mark. It was a bit of a struggle, which lead to Silver having to hold his breath for a few seconds to get the button to fasten. After that, however, the shorts were on, and they mostly fit. It didn’t hinder his breathing enough to effect him.

“These are great!”

“Sorry they’re not a little bigger, I don’t have the widest hips in the world, unfortunately.”

“Here, try these. These should be a bit more stretchy than the denim.”

Rebecca handed him a pair of cotton shorts, colored royal blue. They had large pockets on the front and back, the denim only had pockets on the front.

“Okay!”

He didn’t really know what the difference between the two would be, nor did he realize shorts were a better option anyway. Given the fact he wore boots, pants would have simply been an enormous hassle. He pulled the shirt down a tad more as he looked on at whatever it was she was doing.

Rebecca was elbow deep in a box labelled ‘Shorts and skorts’. She pulled out a pair of denim knee shorts and offered them to Silver.

“Here, try these first. I’ll look for another pair while you’re doing that.”

The trainer went back into the box, her back turned to give him privacy.

“I really really like this one.”

He couldn’t help but turn a little red at the compliment. It was amazing how much your self esteem could rise when you were wearing the right thing. Now all he had to do was figure out how the lower half of clothes worked.

“Where would I have to look to find the thing your legs go into?”

“It looks perfect on you.”

“Lemme see if I can find a pair of shorts. I think pants might be a little too big for you.”

Rebecca started going through another box, looking for a good pair of shorts that didn’t look half ripped or straight from an older time.

holdingmyworldsdestiny:

So he did just that. It was an effort. Silver’s quills weren’t the easiest to get through the head of a shirt. They got in the way a lot, and were a little difficult to get all the way through. Eventually, however, he did succeed in this endeavor. All quills had successfully gotten through. After that, Silver put his arms through the sides. The shirt was snug, but it fit, and that was what mattered. Wearing an article of clothing he personally liked made him feel incredibly good about himself.

Rebecca turned back around to see how Silver looked in it and nearly squealed. He looked precious!

“Silv, you look adorable!”

“The galaxy suits you very well!”

“Wow.”

He only really saw clothes on other people. Silver had never seen so many in one place before. He had never come across a clothing store before. He looked through the box, hopeful that there was something which would fit him.

What he got out was a shirt with a design like nothing he had ever seen before. But it looked very special to him. “I like this one.” He said, holding it up, over himself. “It looks really cool. I think your arms go through the small openings, right?”

“A lot of these I got for free after this region was saved from a nutjob.”

Rebecca nodded at his question, giving a bright smile.

“That’s right. And your head goes through the one in the middle. Go ahead and try it on. I’ll look through a box so you can have a bit of privacy.”

The trainer turned around and started looking through the box behind her. She was elbow deep in the box, surprising herself at how many clothes were in it.

“Cookies?”

Oh, he loved cookies. Silver loved cookies more than he should have, honestly. He could have eaten an entire plate of them if given the opportunity. He still needed to develop the whole self control thing. A lifetime of having nothing left it difficult to control himself when something so good came along.

Silver followed along, his arms resting behind his back. He sort of bounced on his heels, akin to how a child may have done so. That was how excited he was with the idea of trying on clothes. “Up the stairs.” He said, putting one foot in front of the other.

“Yup. I baked some just this morning.”

Rebecca practically hopped up the stairs before heading straight to her bedroom, sliding open the door. She then opened the door to a tatami mat room and turned right, opening the smaller closet, revealing several boxes. She started pulling them out one by one to go through them.

“Alright, Silv. Time to pick out what ya like. This is stuff I really don’t wear anymore so feel free to take whatever you like.”

holdingmyworldsdestiny:

“You don’t have to do that for me.” Even though, if he were being honest, the answer to that question would have been a resounding yes. He wasn’t particularly hungry, but he still enjoyed eating. Flavors were great.

He was getting even more excited about the concept of trying on clothes. There was no getting rid of that little grin on his muzzle. Simple things were what made him incredibly happy.

“But I want to, hun.”

Rebecca smiled at Silver before turning to the sinking, carefully washing out her mug. Perhaps they could have a snack afterwards. After all, Silver wanted some clothes and that’s exactly what she’d give him.

“How about we have a snack after we pick out some clothes? I bet you’d really like cookies.”

She placed the mug on the drying rack before heading towards the stairs outside the kitchen.

“Up we go, Silv.”

“Yeah… everyone deserves kindness.” That was a belief Silver would hold true to until the day he died. He performed a similar gesture, tail wagging when he finished the amazing treat he had been given the chance to experience.

Now he felt warm, and comforted. Rain outside, even during the daytime, suddenly didn’t seem so bad. It meant you could stay inside, and talk about things. “I’ll never be able to thank you for all the kindness you’ve shown me.”

“Yup.”

“Oh Silv, you don’t have to.”

Rebecca would be content with Silver living well. That would be enough thanks for her. She got up to go put her mug in the sink to wash it off, her slippers tapping on the floor.

“Would you like anything else to snack on or do you wanna head upstairs to pick out some clothes after I’m finished up here?”
