“I like the sound of that!”
Silver liked the sound of anything chocolate. He followed the other into the house, which was where he learned it was a really nice feeling, coming in from a walk during the rain. Why did nature have to be so indescribably beautiful? His eyes widened a bit at her words. Oh gosh, he could never do that.
His boots were wet, but taking them off? No. Just the thought paralyzed him with fear. If he took them off, she would see his birthmarks. She would see what made him a monster. Then he would be turned away, and would never get to see this beautiful place again. No, he had to hide his feet. Nobody was allowed to see them. Silver was too terrified to take the risk of putting on something else. His boots were the only things he knew for sure his birthmarks wouldn’t shine through.
What if they had glowed through the socks? They never stopped glowing. It would have been obvious it wasn’t some pattern. Silver just stood there, a bit awkwardly. It was all he had the heart to do.
While she mixed the powder, she blinked at the lack of sound from the hallway. She placed the spoon down before peeking into the hallway.

“You okay over there, Silver? I promise the socks are warm. Here.”
Rebecca squatted down in front of the cabinet, taking out a pair of thick, winter socks and a pair of light blue slippers before handing them both to Silver with a bright smile, ruffling his quills.
“Now I know that not everyone’s comfy with someone watching them change shoes so I’ll be in the kitchen making the cocoa, okay?”

Rebecca walked off to the kitchen again to finish mixing the cocoa and put it in the microwave.
