iamnotratchet:

Making their way to the door his steps got more and more stable as he went. Eventually he took his arm off the other and took a few steps on his own. Seems he was fine now.

“Thanks… and s-sorry for the trouble.”

“It’s alright, hun. You feel like you’ll be okay walking now?”

Rebecca went to open the front door so they could go outside, unlocking it and sliding it open.

iamnotratchet:

“I think… I think I’ll be f-fine. As long as I d-don’t go too fast.”

And just after saying that he got really wobbly. Having to sit back down on that futon before falling

“M-maybe I should t-take back what I s-said.”

“Jeez. Here.”

Rebecca got down on one knee so he could grab onto her shoulder and support him.

iamnotratchet:

“Goop?”

Hearing a few of his things got wet and were drying out made him cringe and forget all about whatever Goop was.

“Can you t-take me to the c-cliff please?”

“Another Pokemon.”

She simply answered before nodding.

“Of course. Need any help walking or are you going to be alright?”

iamnotratchet:

After that sleep the Lombax was up and kind of about. He was still a little woozy but was sick of laying down.

“"Y-yeah I was fine. How’s m-my ship?”

“I’m glad you were alright, hun.”

“The good news is that the ice is gone and evaporated and it’s all cooled off. I had Goop lift it off the beach and get it onto the cliff but far away from the edge.

Bad news is that a few of the things inside got a little wet from the ice melting so I have them out to dry in the sun.”

iamnotratchet:

“Alright.”

Settling down he gave Triton a look over. Strange as the creature was Sprocket couldn’t help but find them cute. Letting out a yawn he was well on his way to getting some sleep.

It was several hours before Rebecca came back in, her hair in all directions like she stuck a finger in an electric socket. She didn’t seem to notice or care, though.

“From the fact that Triton didn’t need to get me at all, I assume you’ve been just fine.”

iamnotratchet:

That was a lot to take in all at once and it certainly sounded complicated. Not the kind of thing to be thinking about while trying to rest and recover from a cash.

“Mayb-be you can g-give me the full story l-later? I’m j-just a mechanic and j-junk man. Not a… I d-don’t even know w-who studies that k-kind of stuff.”

“I’ll give you the full story when you’re healed. In the meantime, I’ll go see if the sun melted the ice off your ship. It’s pretty hot today so that’s why I iced it down. Triton’ll keep an eye on you to make sure you’ll be okay, alright?”

She gave him a bright smile before plopping Triton by the futon and standing up, brushing off her legs.

iamnotratchet:

Seems yawning was contagious. Watching the Vaporeon do it made Sprocket let out a big one before he could speak.

“W-what’s a Pokemon?”

Rebecca chuckled a bit, a smile on her face.

“Pokemon is the name of the species in a whole. Subspecies have individual names. For example, Triton is a Vaporeon.

Evolution here isn’t like evolution on other worlds. We use that word as a way to say that Pokemon is getting older and changes into a different form instantly. As another example, Triton evolved from an Eevee, another Pokemon in the evolution family. It’s also completely permanent.

The deep specifics are really complicated to explain in one day, though.”

iamnotratchet:

Sprocket started doing his best at just that. A few seconds in he realized just how boring resting is without something to do. Only one way to pass the time came to his mind.

“Umm. C-can you tell me m-more about Gaia please? Is it j-just Humans here? Is t-that little blue c-creature a native?”

“Sure, I’d be happy to.”

“Wrong on one, right on two. Triton here is a Vaporeon, a subspecies of Pokemon, the species besides humans that make up our world.”

Triton chirped in response before yawning. His nap had been interrupted.

iamnotratchet:

To be honest, Sprocket wasn’t quite sure himself. Must have hit his head a bit hard during the crash.

“S-some words people s-say a lot. I d-don’t know how to ex, explain it. S-sorry.”

“Ah, a figure of speech?”

“S’okay, hun. No worries. Focus on recovering, ‘kay? Then you can think of all the expressions y’need.”

Rebecca sat back down on the tatami floor as Triton sniffed at her before settling back in her lap.
