Yosuke gripped his Kunai tightly. The only thing keeping him from running off, something that he was incredibly tempted to do, was what she said ‘shitty broken gaijin? the hell did she mean by that?’. Those words put him off, distracting him long enough for the remaining members of the investigation team to catch up.
“Damnit! I should have saved her! Becca…she doesn’t deserve this shit” He said, almost running away from them again. Becca was supposed to be the one person who didn’t know about the tv world, she was his getaway, making this incident very personal to him
“If you’re gonna yell at me to stop running ahead of you guys, why don’t you just hurry your own asses up?!” he shouted, as they ran through the dungeon
The dungeon from then on was almost deathly silent before a small voice, a child’s, spoke up when they neared the stairs.
“Auntie, Auntie, I think she’s broken! She’s not listening to me at all!”“Shut up, I’m not broken!” “What a shameful child, being out in public like she is!” “What the hell is wrong with you people?! I just wanted a snack! I’m only eight, leave me alone!”
The voices cut off after that, leaving the unfamiliar school hallway near silent once more. The implications of what was said weighed heavily in the foggy air.
The only place to go was up the stairs to the next floor.
“Welcome to our world. Where the outsiders go and the gaijin get dumped in the trash.”
Yellow eyes gazed at him from underneath a blonde fringe, strands pulled back tight in a neat bun. The Shadow stood up, her heels clacking on the floor as she approached Yosuke.
“Ah yes. The little hero has come to save us. The little shitty, broken gaijin. We’re so fucking honored.”
The Shadow spat, looking almost pained to even say that. Her outfit was one of a fancy business suit, the skirt abnormally long with shackles around her wrists.
She spun on her heel, walking halfway down the hallway before stopping.
“We’re not some little princess locked up in a tower. But give it your best shot anyway. We’d never be disappointed in you, Hero.”
And then she disappeared, presumably gone further in.
“OH look, its my so called friends!” The last word was spat, full of venom. “Here to berate me for being such a lameass?” He asks as he looked toward the investigation team, and then he turned to Rebecca and started laughing. Before the investigation team could do anything, he grabbed her hand ”As for you, You’re taking the easy way” he said, disappearing with her and leaving the investigation team to go after them.
They reappeared in a dead end, with piles of junk everywhere, with a large monitor in the center of the room, showing Yu and the others. Yosuke (The actual one) was lying on the floor. Shadow Yosuke let go of Rebecca’s hand and set her down besides her boyfriend, then sat himself down, eagerly watching the screen
Yosuke himself appeared to be unharmed, but barely conscious. “Becca? Why the hell are you even over here?” he mumbled weakly, looking around for the other members
“Wait wha- ?!”
The sudden teleportation left her stumbling for a moment before she ended up plopping down on her rear end, armor clinking together under her shirt and pants.
“Oof!”
Thankfully her headset didn’t come flying off like it usually did, so she brought herself to her knees to look over Yosuke, leaving her naginata to her side. A gentle, yet calloused hand ran through his hair, almost in comfort. He looked exhausted…
“To save you, ya adorable doofus…”
She took off her coat, draping it over her boyfriend’s chest in hopes it could help, then she gently took his worryingly limp hand, running a thumb over his knuckles.
“I’m the only one here right now, the others are still climbing this place… Your shadow… he brought me up here.”
Absently, she held his hand to her face, worried about the chill she felt in his skin. Hopefully her own heat could help…
“Even that deep down, you wanted me close, huh?”
Her question was soft, yet she didn’t expect an answer.
Rebecca watched her television in horror, the first time she had ever watched the Midnight Channel. Guilt pooled in her stomach, she should’ve gone with him, dammit!
The guilt had turned to fury by the time school came and went, and the team jumped into the TV to find Yosuke. Rebecca had nearly smashed open the door in protective fury. Then, she spotted her boyfriend’s shadow, marching right up to it and ignoring what the team yelled at her while she dragged her naginata behind her.
“Alright, let’s hear what you gotta say then. Lay it on us.”
She was scared, and he knew it. Pulling her into his arms, he softly and silently hugged her, letting the soft noise and feeling of his heartbeat calm her down. He wouldn’t let there be another incident, whether it be a murder, or a kidnapping. He had to solve this case.
The vibration of Yosuke’s heartbeat calmed her as she wrapped her arms around the other. She was afraid, for both him and herself.
“…I don’t want to lose you. I’m scared you’ll be next…”
Quietly, she grasped at his sleeve, nodding. Rebecca was a little scared, considering there had been a… No, she couldn’t think about that right now. And yet, it had only been that very morning when it happened.
Yosuke couldn’t stop blushing. She we holding tight to him, much to his relief. He was afraid that if he let go of her then he’d wake up and all of this would have never happened.
“I never thought you wouldn’t like me back but I thought maybe we were going too fast?”
Rebecca promptly buried her blush in his chest, still holding onto him and simply listening to his heartbeat. This still felt like it was a dream, but it was real, so very real that her heart skipped a beat.
“Th-Then we can go at o-our own pace. I-If we’re not ready t’do somethin’, we’ll tell e-each other.”
“Becca, i did mean it when i told you how i felt.” He’s blushing red, McCree’s remarks over IM about how his face resembled a tomato was completely accurate. Surprisingly, the whole time, he didn’t move from his position next to her. He silently thanked his leader for leaving to get food, since he felt it was much easier to have this talk when it was just the two of them
Thankfully, Rebecca had put her headset on in between their leader leaving and Yosuke speaking. As such, she was able to hear what the other said and hold onto him a little tighter.
“I-I did too, ‘Suke. I love you a lot a-and I’m really happy you love me back…”
