“What’re you saying!? I can’t just leave you, we’re partners!” He exclaimed, drawing his Kunai and switching them into gun mode. Upon her insistence, he groaned loudly, before finally conceding. He shot wildly at the grimm in an attempt to give her a bigger advantage and finally turned toward the forest “If I don’t see you in 5 minutes I’m coming back, got it? Now stay alive, partner” he said, kissing her on the cheek and bolting away reluctantly.

“You won’t be! I’m makin’ some time for us both!”

Another swing sent another blade of ice at the Grimm, her iced over braids clinking on her headset as she dodged a wild swing from the creature. As soon as she felt the kiss on her cheek, her face lit up brilliantly, steam rising from her braids.

“G-Gotcha! Five minutes…!”

It took her just a split second to come back to her senses and dodge a swipe from the damn thing. Two minutes would be enough for him to get away a good distance, right?

Rebecca started spinning her naginata, creating several wheels of ice she sent flying at the grimm, one by one, to distract it long enough for her to run away. Letting out puffs of white as she warmed herself up, running after her partner.

“’Suke!”

She shouted after him, running up alongside him with her naginata folded up now. When she caught up to him, she had to catch her breath, the ice melted off her braids. Then, she gave him a bright grin, happy he was okay.

“Alright then! I’ll jump up and grab it, cover me and make ” he instructed, summoning a strong gust of wind to boost him up over a grimm, snatching the white rook and doing an action pose before he recovered his balance

He then lept over the grimm again, using his other kunai to leave a gash as he passed, landing beside her again “Well, i wounded it, but i dont think it’s-” he was interrupted by a loud roar. “-dead yet…” he finished

“Shit.”

With that said, she clicked her rifle again, unfolding it into a naginata before a white glow surrounded the blade this time. The ends of her braids started icing over somewhat as she swung the naginata, sending icy blades at the grimm.

“I’ll keep it busy, you get outta here and I’ll follow!”

Rebecca seemed deadly serious about it. She wasn’t intending to sacrifice herself, but instead buy at least a minute for Yosuke to get out of the ruins. Another swing lopped off a limb the grimm was reaching out towards her partner.

“Go!”

“Well, if you say so” Yosuke follows her through the forrest. It felt a lot more reassuring having her there. Especially since his sense of direction left something to be desired. Finally, he heard sounds of fighting and Grimm. “Sounds like we’re close, partner.” he said, hands on his weapons.

They stepped into the clearing and observed the scene; What appeared to be an old ruin with several small items resembling chess pieces scattered around. Unfortunately, there were several grimm there as well. He drew his kunai and turned to her “So, looks like we have a choice, which relic do you want” he asked.

“Dibs on the rook-lookin’ one. Castles are cool.”

She braced her rifle on her hip before aiming at a grimm that was near the relics.

“You wanna pick it up while I clear these out or vice versa? I’m cool with either way honestly, so it’s up to you.”

If the grimm attacked, she would shoot, but until then, she’d wait for her partner’s answer. She was impulsive but not to the point where she didn’t listen.

“Name’s Yosuke Hanamura. If you didn’t already guess, im a faunus. Specifically a frog one” He says after shaking her hand and switches his Kunai back into Knife mode, sheathing them before nodding. “I’m hoping you know the right way, Aibou, i kinda got lost following the noises of the grimm”

“Mhm, I believe I spotted the right way to go while lookin’ for a partner, so don’t ya worry!”

She adjusted her rifle strap before pointing in the right direction, motioning for him to follow her.

“This way~!”

Rebecca started walking towards the direction pointed in.

Yosuke jumped down, sheathing his weapons. He brushes his clothing off. He glances toward the dead grimm, which was already disintegrating at this point, and fires one last time just for fun.

“Hey, nice job, Aibou. Looks like you barely needed my help” he congratulates her, realizing that she was his partner. He almost wouldn’t have figured out she was a girl, had she not spoken, but upon another look he was certain. Badass, and cute. She was exactly what he was hoping for in a teammate

“Ahaha… I was actually having some trouble with it before you got here! I might make it look easy but trust me, it’s anythin’ but!”

She clicked a button on her naginata, the red glow on the blade disappearing before it folded back up into a rifle again. Then she slung it back up on her shoulder before giving the other a bright grin, holding out a scraped hand.

“Rebecca Bardot, nice t’meetcha, Partner~!”

Something about that word sounded just right, she thought to herself. Then, she pointed backwards with her thumb, still grinning.

“Off we go then?”

“Thats no problem, i have a couple tricks up my sleeve” As the beast raised its arm to hit Yosuke, who was currently on top of it, he stuck his tongue out and grabbed hold of a branch and swung himself out of the way, causing the grimm to scratch his leg, but also hit itself as Yosuke landed safely. Yosuke then regained his balance and opened fire

“Nice job! My turn~!”

There was an audible clicking noise as her naginata’s blade started glowing a vibrant red before she started spinning in the air as she fell towards the Grimm, propelled by bursts of heat.

She practically buzz sawed right through the middle, hitting the ground with a loud swear before she got up and leapt back to give the other room for his own weapon, unless the Grimm was already dead.

Oops.

Yosuke heard footsteps and as a precaution, drew his Kunai. He really hoped it was a grimm and not a fellow student because he was feeling very jumpy. He slowly walked toward the sound and after hearing the sound of a grimm he started running faster until he ran into a clearing, where another student was fighting the beast

“I hope you dont mind me lending you a hand!” he exclaimed, using one of his kunai to boost the whirlwind created by his semblance so he could get on top of the beast.

Sapphire eyes blinked behind a visor as she looked over at the other, getting off two more shots into the Grimm’s face before leaping off the thing’s tail with a burst of heat and into the air.

“I don’t mind at all~! Just don’t get yerself hurt too bad, hun~!”

She already had a scrape on her face and hands from a hit she took. Rebecca looked back at the Grimm, getting off another shot.

She had nearly been late, as she had been adjusting her weapon’s shoulder strap so it would be both comfortable and easily accessed.

As soon as all the questions Ozpin had been asked were answered, they were promptly catapulted into the air.

Rebecca shrieked in surprise but then started laughing excitedly, getting her weapon ready as she calculated the best way to land. She was heading straight for a tree, but with the right…

She pulled out her rifle, the weapon folding out into a naginata before she started spinning with it. As soon as she neared the tree, slowing down carefully, the blade cut into the bark and she used it to stop herself. Right near the ground, her momentum stopped and she hopped off her naginata.

Then, after dusting herself off, she yanked it out of the tree and it folded up again, letting her sling it over her shoulder.

“That was fun! Wonder if I could do that again. Ah well.”

She walked off into the trees to find a partner and then head off to the ruins. This would be fun~!

Beacon Life Event: Initiation Begins

As everyone wandered about the campus, a tone blared throughout the entire school, signalling an announcement. Once the announcement began, the voice behind was, of course, Professor Ozpin.

“Good day, everyone. I hope the academy has been treating you all well. I come to you today to let you all know that your initiation shall be beginning shortly. Please, meet me and all the other faculty members over by Beacon Cliff for further details.”

With that, the announcement was over, and Ozpin watched from his office as everyone began to walk towards the instructed destination.

Once everyone was there, they would be greeted by Ozpin, Qrow, and Glynda. With a smile, Ozpin directed everyone to stand atop the plates that stood out from the grass on the cliff. Once that was done, he began his monologue.

“Now then, I’m sure you all have a great many questions about how our team-building shall work. You all wish to know how exactly you’re going to receive your teammates. Well, I am here to tell you that you need to wonder no longer. You shall be receiving your teams today. But of course, we also have to put you through a bit of a test to make sure you’re ready for what’s to come. First off, some very important notes. The teams you shall be assigned today shall be with you for your entire stay at Beacon Academy. There is no arguing on this point. Second, the first person you make eye contact with upon landing will be your partner. Again, this will be for your entire stay at Beacon.”

Ozpin took a sip of his drink before continuing.

“Now then. On to the initiation itself. First off, do note that we shall all be watching you throughout the entirety of initiation, but we will not intervene in any of your affairs. Once you have found your new partner, make your way to the northern end of the Emerald Forest. Once there, you will find a temple. Abandoned, yet full of relics. Each pair of 2 is to grab one, then make their way back up to where you started. Once you have returned, you will be graded on your performance throughout the forest, the relic you have brought back, and your overall standing in the ranks. Be forewarned that many Grimm lie in the forest, and you must be prepared to deal with them.”

He turned around to look at the forest briefly, before turning back.

“I hope you all have prepared a good landing strategy. You’ll be needing it. Now then, before we send you off…”

“Are there any questions?”
