“Oh man, Lorna’s a huge sweetheart. I’m never really mad when she holds me back from beating the shit out of the people who make ‘Suke’s life hell though. I really do wanna beat those assholes up, but I know it wouldn’t really solve ‘Suke’s problems.

I’m really glad Lorna tolerates all my bullshit though. She’s an amazing friend and I wouldn’t trade her for the world.”

Scraping the air in between his teeth, he kept his face somewhere between a grin and a wince as she worked. “I mean ok, sure, but still this is a litte–aiiyEEE, YOWCH.” A particular tug seemed to hurt extra, but sealed the deal on those wrappings.

“Gggah….Yosuke Hanamura, defender of Inaba, Persona master and serial saver of the world, done in by a bad bike.” he winces as he moves his arm to test. “And a really hard rock.”

…It was odd, getting to admit that outside of the usual team. But well…no point in hiding what she already probably knew right?

image

“It’s better than it getting infected and you end up bedridden for days while recovering from fever and in pain.”

She certainly knew what she was talking about. She had snipped off the roll from the already wound bandages, rolling up what was left before putting it to the side. She gently slapped his shoulder to get him to stop moving his arm too much.

“Don’t move it too much. You’re lucky it wasn’t deep enough for stitches or cutting the muscle. Or breaking your elbow or shoulder altogether. As it is, you gotta be careful or it’ll rip deeper. There’s no fracture anywhere as far as I can tell, but being a ‘Persona Master’ doesn’t mean you can’t be careful.”

Rebecca quietly huffed, the bells on the ends of her braids chiming softly. She picked up the bandage roll again and put it back in her first aid bag before carefully looking his arm over. She didn’t really react much to the talk of Personas, mostly because she was already used to it.

Then gently, carefully, she moved his arm to see his reaction to what was probably an obvious tug on the wound and bruising.

“Tell me when it hurts more than a sting, and that’ll be your movement limit for your arm ‘til it starts healing. Then lemme see your ankle. I saw purple when your pants leg moved a little earlier.”

“Oh wow, now there’s a Yosuke I don’t think I’ve met yet! He’s hella cute, the long hair isn’t something I’ve seen on a Yosuke. I wonder if mine would be willing to grow his out like that…”

So she could play with his hair, obviously.

“He seems like a sweetie!”

“Thank you!” He noted how effortlessly she slid the heavy bag over, but said nothing about it. Quietly admiring her strength and wondering what she was working on, the cook nearly missed her muttering under her breath. The vaguely familiar dialect pulled at his attention, nose wrinkling and lips turning down. Not all of what she said reached him, but he swore some of the words were ones he had heard before while living with his biological family in the North Blue.

Stepping closer and clearing his throat, he gave her an apologetic smile.

“Excuse me. Sorry, again, but I was… I didn’t mean to listen in, but it almost sounded like you were speaking the same language I used to speak where I’m from. May I ask where you learned that?”

Rebecca blinked before looking over at Sanji again, vibrant sapphire eyes wide as she processed what he had said. Now that she really looked, he had the same kind of nose as her dad… And her mother always said her dad was more native to France than she was.

“N-No, no, it’s okay. My mother taught it to me after I learned the language I’m speaking now, .”

image

“Are you French too? Y’sorta look it in the nose shape a little, if that makes sense.”

She may have been talking, but she was still mixing the cookie dough as she spoke, looking back at the dough to make sure she didn’t accidentally fling any of it out of the bowl. That happened once when she was a kid and never again.

She rattled off a sentence in French that roughly translated to ‘if you can understand this, I said that you’re a sweetheart before.’. She had a slight accent to her speech, since Japanese technically was her first language, not French.

“Yes? Hi.”

image

“YES!!! YES YES THANK!! GOD! Oh thank GOD.”

Smooth, Hanamura. Smooth.

“…Uh, right so. Nothing WRONG with heavy showers of Yosukes or anything. We’re the best! But, this is, ALSO the best. Knowing I haven’t fallen into the Yosuke zone. Yosuke. I’m using my own name too much, it’s losing meaning.”

“…Yyyanyways, Hey! Nice to meet you, I’m Housuke Yanamura. How are you–”

nnnNNNOOOOO

image

“…..Yosuke, Hanamura. Uh, and you are?”

image

Rebecca giggled happily, the bells on the ends of her braids chiming. How utterly charming and adorable! She adjusted her headset before responding.

“Rebecca Bardot. It’s nice to meet you too, Hanamura-san.”

She really couldn’t help but giggle, the rambling was just so cute!

“I do agree that Yosukes are the best though. They’re all very cute.”

[~☪~] Shinjiro was keeping his ears on Rebecca as she was talking about a customer who tried to get a rush order on a cake. Even he knew if you wanted one of the orders from the spot where the young lady worked, you do NOT try asking for a ‘last minute’ thing and expect not to get charged more.

“Unfortunately, people don’t seem to read important details and then get surprised when you live by the rules you set up.”

image

“I know, right? I’ll never understand people like that, honestly.”

She slurped up some more noodles before continuing, absently motioning with her chopsticks as she talked.

“Then he had the nerve to say he’d sue if I didn’t make the cake. I swear I’ve never heard a more American asshat in my damn life, his accent was terrible. And no, Shiichan, that was not an intended pun.”

Rebecca snorted a little into her tea and rolled her eyes a little, happily sipping the hot drink before going back to her ramen. She never realized how many hearing puns she seemed to make until her chatting buddy started snorting at them all.

“It’s mostly out-of-towners that don’t read the signs, with the odd foreign tourist. The people who live here know better by now for the most part.”
