‘Smaller? How big is it supposed to be?’

“Well, it’s supposed to be about this big on average.”
Rebecca held her hands about ten inches apart vertically to show how large an egg normally was.

“Well, it’s supposed to be about this big on average.”
Rebecca held her hands about ten inches apart vertically to show how large an egg normally was.
‘An…egg?’ Huh, Kin imagined a small chicken sized egg but nope, he was surprised to find that it was far bigger than that. Quite considerably bigger.
Kin read the note carefully, not quite sure why anyone would leave an egg on their doorstep.

“Yep. Whoever left it mustn’t have been very smart. The Daycare’s only one over.”
Rebecca took a look at the egg, her features becoming gentle as she uncovered the rest of the egg from under the blanket. Then her expression became one of concern.
“This is an Eevee egg but… It’s far smaller than it should be.”

“What in the…”
Right there at the door was a woven basket with a folded blanket. There was a card on top that she read as she carried the basket inside, closing the door behind her. She put the basket on the kitchen table, reading the note with a raised eyebrow, glancing at Kin.
“Apparently, someone found it hilarious to drop a Pokemon egg onto our doorstep.”
She showed the note to him, it simply read, ‘Take care of it, I am unable to’.
Kin, out of boredom and to find a way of passing the time, would find a little amusement in watching Rebecca preparing the hot cocoa, taking note of every little movement and gesture she made, observing if you like.
Two minutes. Ah, not too long then, the hedgehog stretching a little before resting his head on his arms.

Once the microwaved stopped, she took out two now steaming mugs of cocoa and put them on the table, sitting right across from Kin.
“Don’t drink it right away, alright? Wait til it cools a bit.”
‘Nooo…’ was all would be whispered as he hid in the other. Well done Rebecca, you now have an adorable tomato clinging to you.
Have fun.

Rebecca laughed a bit louder now, Kin would be able to feel the vibration in her chest. She hugged him tight and warmly, leaning her cheek on his head fondly.
‘Am not.’
And that small smooch was just enough to make him go bright red and hide his now clearly flustered face in Rebecca’s chest.

“Oh, what’s this I see? Is this adorable? Why yes you are, don’t you deny it.”
Rebecca softly laughed, a bright smile on her face.
‘No need to thank me, just making sure you’re not in pain.’ And that hug was plenty good for Kin, slightly hugging her back before she let go and headed to the fridge, leaving him waiting patiently in his seat again.

“Now lessee… here we are.”
Rebecca pulled out the milk and took out the hot cocoa powder, pouring it in two mugs and mixing the milk into the powder. She promptly put the two mugs into the microwave and set it for two minutes.
Now it was his turn to squeak, both confused and surprised by the hug before just accepting his hug induced fate.
‘I’m not adorable!’ Really Kin. Really.

“Yes you are, cutie patootie. Absolutely adorable.”
And Kin got a little smooch on his forehead with Rebecca smiling happily at him.

‘What did I do.’
There was a squeaking noise before Rebecca hugged Kin tight. If she had a tail, it would be wagging happily.

“You’re being adorable, that’s what you’re doing.”
‘It looks really painful though…and certainly not something small either…doesn’t it hurt?’

“Nah, it doesn’t hurt. I’ll be fine and heal up in a couple weeks. Thank you for the concern though, Kin. That’s very sweet of you.”
Rebecca gave him a warm hug in return for being concerned for her health before heading back to the fridge to get out the milk and hot cocoa mix.
